We just want to let our residents know that we share in everyone’s frustrations with Waste Pro USA not collecting trash (at least 148 trash cans) in our community since the last late pick-up on May 26th. They have now missed two pick-ups. We also are concerned about the potential tropical weather system that may approach our area at the weekend. We have been in touch with City of Port St. Lucie - City Hall and they let us know that a few Torino Lakes residents have also contacted them. We did also call Waste Pro and while they rarely pick up their phones they did eventually let us know that they have documented our complaint. We don’t know when trash will be picked up but we hope it will be soon. We do ask that should the storm come through our area that residents secure their trash cans as best as they can. We will keep doing all that we can do to try to get our trash collected but we are at the mercy of Waste Pro which is the City’s current trash hauler. This is excellent news for our landfills!

Well, here's some good news for Mother Earth! 🌍

St. Lucie County Solid Waste now accepts plastic coffee pods in its recycling programs! ♻️ This achievement was made possible in partnership with Keurig Dr Pepper.

Residents can recycle plastic coffee pods through a simple three-step process:

Peel ➡ Starting at the puncture, peel the lid off and discard.
Empty ➡ Compost or dispose of the coffee grounds (the filter can remain).
Recycle ➡ Place coffee pods in curbside recycling bins or drop them off at the St. Lucie County Baling and Recycling Facility.

Torino Area Advisory - Potable Water Well Maintenance

Please be aware that rehabilitation and maintenance work has begun on a potable drinking water well (Well F8) located in a secluded area between NW East Torino Parkway and NW Conley Drive. The majority of the construction will take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The work is expected to be complete in 90 days.

Because of the nature of this project, both intermittent and extensive flushing will take place, as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The flushed water will be directed into a nearby drainage right-of-way.

There may also be a slight odor during this time, as this well’s water contains hydrogen sulfide. Please be assured that this odor is harmless.

Updates will be provided as necessary.
