At Southern Land Company, we are passionate about creating beautiful buildings, and we understand the value of hard work and meaningful relationships. Today’s is Deco 969 in Texas, which upon completion will rise 27 stories high, featuring 302 apartments and penthouses averaging 1,090 sq ft, 8,000 sq ft of mixed-use retail space, and a total footprint of 308,680 sq ft.

It took over five years of thoughtful planning and strategic partnerships to arrive at the groundbreaking at Deco 969 last year, and we look forward to introducing this special project to residents in 2023.

: A project that sits close to our hearts — Auric Symphony Park in Las Vegas.

How did it all start? SLC CEO Tim Downey became enamored with the Downtown area of Las Vegas during visits to the city over the years. He started to notice a lack of quality housing for Downtown residents, especially in the Symphony Park area, which has long been rich in arts, culture, science, and medicine. The more Tim and other executives at Southern Land Company saw what the City was trying to do in the area--introduce attractive, functional housing--it just made sense that this was going to be a great location, with a ton of potential to create an urban oasis.

Thanks to the trust of the City leaders of Las Vegas, Southern Land Company made the dream of community betterment and beautification a reality. Today, the site of Auric Symphony Park has been completely transformed from an uninhabited brownfield site into a vibrant, residential nucleus that offers 324 beautiful apartment homes to the community.

: A few months ago, we celebrated the groundbreaking of Juliette, our new 177-unit luxury apartment home community in White Plains. At the same time, we also celebrated our longstanding partnership with the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester. This tremendous organization has been serving community members for decades, and it was previously located at the site of Juliette at 250 Mamaroneck Avenue in a facility that required costly maintenance to remain operational. When we learned of the YMCA's financial needs, we stepped in to help, as we wanted to do what we could to ensure continued success for the Y. We developed a meaningful relationship with the YMCA's leadership team and ultimately helped the YMCA relocate to 148 Hamilton Avenue, where it continues to serve the community with expanded programming. We are grateful to have enlisted the expertise of the Housing Action Council along the way to secure new places of residence for tenants who were occupying the old YMCA building.

Juliette will undoubtedly be a beautiful multifamily community of which will be proud--but we are just as proud to enter into a community where so much good is being done.

Today, this part of the Hempstead Harbor waterfront is littered with:

• Environmentally hazardous debris
• Hundreds of carcinogenic piles in the water
• Sunken vessels
• Contaminated soil
• Dilapidated metal buildings
• A large oil tank
