We have seen social media posts about our project and are a little disappointed with the misinformation being spread.
We want to clarify a few important points to ensure the community has accurate information.
First, Inspiration Wharf has not refused to meet with residents. We have already met with a number of local residents and civic groups, and we currently have additional meetings scheduled. While we have not committed to every individual request, we remain open to thoughtful, productive dialogue and will continue engaging with the community in a constructive way.
Second, the characterization of the project as a “privatization” of the waterfront is not accurate. Inspiration Wharf is a thoughtfully designed revitalization of a long-underutilized site that has always been private with no public access to the waterfront. The proposed plan includes numerous publicly available spaces for those who visit the shops, restaurants, and amenities, allowing more people to enjoy the waterfront than they can today.
It’s also important to note that the project includes 37 residential units, which is below the 41 units permitted under current zoning. This reflects a deliberate effort to scale the development responsibly within what is allowed.
We understand that change can bring questions and concerns, and we are committed to sharing accurate information and continuing respectful dialogue with the Port Washington community.
For anyone interested in learning more, we encourage you to visit our website for updates and attend upcoming public meetings.
Inspiration Wharf has been a pillar of the North Hempstead community for generations. Starting in 2026 the wharf will be gaining new life in an exciting new revitalization plan.
