Mom got her 1st pair of hearing aids. If you’re related to me.. you should probably get your ears checked. According to my audiologist both parents have to carry the genes for the hearing loss I have.

43 and discovered I have (those are elephant ears at the zoo). Symptoms were - not a good audio learner - always wondered why I didn’t absorb teacher lectures, out loud reading, why I felt I couldn’t connect to my kids at some level (hard to process women and children’s voices), really didn’t love talking on the phone (didn’t realize I read lips and my brain has to work extra hard to fill in gaps), leave the water running, fridge open, and car blinker on (even though there are beeping alerts and most people would hear the water running, was especially stressed with face masks - (didn’t realize I read lips), thought I had hyper focus and couldn’t multi-task - allowed kids to pinch me to get my attention, asked them so many times to please repeat themselves “I’m trying to listen.” So, thankful for hearing aids (despite trying to figure out which ones to buy and feeling like the process is similar to a car lot). Wish I had figured this out in elementary school. Thankful I can hear my kids the first time.
