Hackmanite is a magical mineral that ‘remembers’ light! In normal room light or darkness, it often looks pale white, gray, or soft pink. But shine UV light (like sunlight or a blacklight) on it, and it dramatically shifts to a deep, vibrant purple or raspberry pink. Leave it in the dark, and the color slowly bleeds away over minutes to hours, ready to change again. This reversible color-shifting property is called tenebrescence—nature’s own living photochromic gem, like sunglasses that change on their own!
