Vote YES on Measure 26-263

As a realtor who lives in Dunthorpe and sells homes in the neighborhood, I spend a lot of time talking about income taxes, property taxes, and what keeps Dunthorpe home prices up in comparison to other Multnomah County neighborhoods.

My first answer is always “Riverdale Schools.”

We have our own small school district with a K-8 Grade School and High School just up the road. Class sizes are small and the Riverdale education is excellent - it’s recently been rated the #1 Best Public K-8 School in Oregon, the #1 Best Public Elementary AND Middle School in Multnomah County.

But here’s the reality check on how we stay that way: about 20% of our school funding comes from local taxes and donations to our school foundation.  

This year our local option tax that supports our exceptional schools is on the ballot. If you live in the Riverdale School District, vote YES on Measure 26-263. It’s an easy yes if you have kids at RSD, but should also be an easy yes if you’re a homeowner - our top ranked schools directly support your property values. Great schools make for a great neighborhood and protected property values—it’s that simple.

Exceptional schools act as the heartbeat of our community. They don’t just educate the next generation; they keep our community vibrant and our property values strong. It’s a win-win for all of us. Let’s keep showing up for our kids.

Sometimes the path to a successful closing isn’t a straight line, as was the case at this beautiful foursquare in SE Portland’s Buckman neighborhood. And sometimes - despite major hurdles - you end up with a record-breaking sale price.

Last November, after tough negotiations, we went Pending, and our seller was busy planning for her move. We hit a bump in the road when the buyer ultimately couldn’t perform financially. It is insanely gorgeous in Portland today. Spring is springing, there's a bald eagle flying around over my house, and I'm double dosing on my Zyrtec. Sunny skies are reminding me summer vacation isn't far off, and one of my favorite places to vacation with my kids during break is Caldera Springs resort in Bend.
