On Aug. 24, Governor Kate Brown announced a new rule that will require people in Oregon to mask in most public outdoor settings — regardless of vaccination status — where physical distancing is not possible. The rule goes into effect today, Friday, Aug. 27.

Please wear masks inside any of our common spaces such as laundry rooms, and the pool enclosure. You do not have to wear a mask while swimming, but as soon as you leave the pool please put them back on. The sign-up sheets will be by the pool entrance once again.

In response to forecasts of dangerous historic temperatures, Oregon Health Authority has suspended COVID-19 related capacity limits at swimming pools, movie theaters and shopping malls effective immediately, to help Oregonians stay cool this weekend.

The additional venues come after capacity limits were suspended earlier Friday at cooling centers and on public transit. Much of Oregon anticipates record-breaking heat over the next few days.

Things are looking up for Limited-use Pools this summer in Portland! We will be posting entrance and exit signs for each gate (for one-way flow of traffic), with a designated waiting area by the entrance for the next group, in 15 minute increments. People will need to maintain at least 6 feet of physical distance from each other, when not members of the same household. We will let you know when the pool is ready, and email out a sign-up sheet that will be posted each day. Sign-ups for each day will be before noon that day.

After closures in 2020, summer camps, splash pads, and pop-up concerts will also return.

Our local businesses have been greatly affected by acts of vandalism and theft, as well as by the required COVID-19 safety protocols that limit the number of customers allowed in-store. We want to do what we can to help them survive, thrive, and come back stronger!
