He completed his first bake sale auction at the age of 10. He has continued to work hard, learn the real estate and auctioneering business, and has been active in the Jay County Community through out the years. Mel Smitley Real Estate & Auctioneering is made up of Mel Smitley and 3 other brokers. Those brokers are Ryan Smitley, Laci Smitley, and Chuck Daily. Mel Smitley & Laci Smitley are the auctioneers. Deana Powell and LeAnn Robbins set up the auctions and clerk and cashier the auctions. These 2 ladies do an outstanding job in making sure that every auction is set up and looks great! There are several other workers that are part of this company that help to ensure that the trailers get loaded and unloaded or move merchandise out of homes successfully, whether onsite or another location!
