The U.S. housing shortage would still take more than seven years to fix at the current pace of construction, according to a Realtor.com analysis.
Despite some improvement, the nation remains short roughly 3.8 million homes needed to meet demand from new households and pent-up buyers. At the recent building rate, closing the gap would take about 7.5 years, highlighting how the supply deficit continues to fuel the affordability crisis.
