We love sharing our homebuyer success stories! PDX HSP works creatively to make sure the needs of homebuyers are met and centered throughout the entire redistribution process.

From the homebuyers: "Over this last year we have planted our garden, added a basketball hoop for our boys out front, and completed an awning off the back of the house to create a relaxing living space we can use even when it's raining. We have also upgraded a few appliances, and just continued to make this house our home. Thank you and your team again for making that dream our reality.”

Exciting news from TOpdx!!!

We have some exciting news! Taking Ownership has just received our largest financial investment yet.

We’ve been awarded $2.9 million over 3 years from the Portland Clean Energy Benefit Fund!!!

The Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF), is a City of Portland program that invests in community-led projects to reduce carbon emissions, create economic opportunity, and help make Portlanders more resilient to the most adverse impacts of the climate crisis. The Community Grants program is a cornerstone of PCEF’s work by funding both planning and implementation projects, ensuring organizations have the resources to develop and carry out community-led climate solutions and that benefits of climate action are accessible, equitable, and impactful for Portlanders. 
 
The funding we are awarded will help us create healthier homes, lower utility bills, and offer job training and living-wage opportunities. We couldn’t be more excited to help provide energy efficient resources to the Black community of Portland!

We had the pleasure of tabling at an Activate Portland event this past Saturday with Taking Ownership PDX and a bunch of cool local organizations doing amazing work in the Portland community. Thank you to Portland Placemaking Coalition and Leaven Community Center for hosting this event! If you didn't get a chance to attend, look out for our upcoming events and we'll see you there. Shoutout to all of the organizations who spoke at this inspiring event. Looking forward to creating more connections!

A week from tomorrow, Saturday November 15th, Portland Placemaking Coalition is hosting Activate Portland Community Summit of Winter 2025, and we'll be there! Join us and PDX Housing Solidarity Project, along with over 20 other local organizations, in a day of community connection and activism. If you are interested in activism or are looking for a networking opportunity with local organizations, this is the event for you! There will be speakers from multiple organizations sharing about activism in Portland and a chance to connect with fellow activists.

The event is being held at @ Leaven Community Center from 9:45am to 4pm.

Homeownership is linked to the ability to build generational wealth, and has historically and currently excluded Black and Indigenous communities.

PDX Housing Solidarity works to interrupt this racialized inequality by connecting redistrubutors, those who have access to wealth and privilege or simply have enough to share, to support Black and Indigenous homeownership.

This video provides a brief overview of our organization and the work we do. Hear from a PDX HSP volunteer, redistributor, and first time homebuyer about why they chose PDX HSP and their experience working with us.

🏠 Wealth redistribution matters in Portland because too many communities, especially Black and Indigenous communities, have been affected by an unequal system. Wealth redistribution builds a more equitable and inclusive society. Its goals include:

1. Acknowledge and address generations of systemic harm
2. Close the racial wealth gap with intention and care
3. Foster lasting economic stability for all
4. Build a stronger, more connected economy
5. Protect our most vulnerable neighbors and uplift our entire community
