Wow! New RMLS data out for the Portland area shows us that about 1/2 as many houses are on the market right now versus previous years. The market is HOT even though the weather is cold. It's a better time than ever to sell... and that's probably not an exaggeration.

Warren Buffett said, "...be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful."

I have a client who has told me it's a perfect time to sell her home and downsize. The problem is, there's drama with the presidential election and fears of COVID so she wants to give it a couple of years. This will be rough for her health and rough on her purse.

When others are selling, consider buying and when others are buying, consider selling. Oregon is #1 in the nation for having a housing shortage. With low interest rates, buyers are gobbling up all the homes on the market. Sellers like my client are afraid to sell, and you or your loved ones should consider taking advantage of that situation by doing the opposite. The the opportunity here? Remember supply and demand in Econ 101?

Sellers, we need you! We have buyers who are hungry to get into homes right now with not much to choose from. Inventory is incredibly low and may not stay this low into the spring. Winter is a great time to sell this year!

Compounding shortages in homes for sale is a growing population, owners unwilling to sell during the coronavirus pandemic and September wildfires that destroyed more than 4,000 Oregon dwellings.
