With all the rain that we get here in the PNW, it’s very important to make sure it drains away from your foundation. Changing your soil to slope away and adding drains where needed can help minimize water intrusion and damage to your foundation.

You never know what you are going to see in the life as a home inspector.
Afternoon inspection had a window built into the drainage system. Actually they built a cover for the basement stair system right into the window. Genius 🤣
The water heater was built in 1980 and still rockin.

Our inspectors are taking precautions as we continue to conduct home inspections for our clients. We have disposable gloves, masks and hand sanitizer. This morning The Oregonian has a really good article on Radon Gas that is the second leading cause of Lung cancer. If you have not tested your home you really need to. IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW. ONeil Home LLC Inspections and Radon services have been testing for several years and use one of the best testing devices available with a hourly readout of the results. You can also purchase a home kit, but I promise you its not as accurate as our machines that count particles hourly. Please call us and schedule your test with one of our Certified installers. 503 477 4871 The test is $175 and takes two and a half days to perform. Some of the most interesting information I like to share with home owners. The EPA Radon remediation action level is 4.0 picocuries per liter of air, but over 50% of the people that got Cancer from Radon lived in homes with less than 4.0 Picocuries. The biggest factor in the possibility of getting Cancer is long term exposure even at lower levels than 4.0 Did you know that animals can get Radon Cancer? They are living near the flooring where radon levels are always higher and some stay in the house a good part of the day. Please share the word about radon. IT IS REAL and it can be deadly.

Home inspection in Gresham this week. Opened the crawlspace hatch and found the crawlspace sump pump quit working for what appears years ago. The crawlspace was completely flooded and support posts had major wood rot. This is a place must people don’t consider even looking in. Have you had your crawlspace inspected recently?
