🇺🇸 Seattle, this was the city I fell in love with.
Spending time downtown during the FIFA World Cup celebrations reminded me just how incredible this city can be. One of the highlights for me was standing at Harbor Steps and seeing the energy, excitement, and pride on full display.
Years ago, I had the privilege of being part of an amazing team that helped build Harbor Steps into a vibrant community. Seeing it alive with people again brought back so many memories and reminded me of the incredible potential Seattle has when people come together with a shared vision.
I often found myself wondering what Stimson Bullitt might think if he could see it today. I imagine he’d say something like:
“Harbor Steps was never about concrete and brick. It was about creating a place where people would gather, connect, and experience the very best of Seattle.”
This week, that’s exactly what happened.
The streets were filled with visitors, families, soccer fans, and people proudly wearing red, white, and blue. Hearing the crowd chant “USA! USA! USA!” wasn’t about politics. It was about community, celebration, and a shared love of country. It felt hopeful.
Seattle shined. The city was cleaner, more welcoming, and full of life. It showed the world what so many of us already know: Seattle is a world-class city with world-class people.
My hope is that this moment becomes a catalyst—not just for visitors, but for the people who call Seattle home. If we can create this experience for the world, we can create it for our citizens every day.
Seattle didn’t become special by accident. It became special because people cared enough to invest in it, believe in it, and refuse to give up on it.
And I still believe that’s possible today. ❤️💙🇺🇸
