Properties in Cobb discharge their wastewater either to the county sewer system or a private septic system. If your Cobb County Water System bill has a Sewer Derived Service expense line, the property is connected to the county sewer system. If there is no line or charge for Sewer, the property is connected to a septic tank.
Whether sewer or septic, there are good practices to follow to maintain wastewater systems:
• Only flush the 3Ps (p*e, poo, and toilet paper). Wipes (even those that say “flushable”), towels, cloths, or pads do not break down like toilet paper and cause blockages resulting in sewage backups.
• Dump all food scraps and wipe excess fats, oils, and grease (FOG) into the garbage, and use a sink strainer to catch solids to prevent overflows or backups.
