Alert: long post: grab a drink.
As some know, we bought a farmhouse in Carlton last year. (💕) I’m so in love!
A couple of weeks ago, I took a Sunday drive from our home in Cobb County to hang out at the Farmhouse with my dog.. It was COLD. I turned on the heat in the house and took a drive waiting for the house to warm up. About 10 mins into my drive, I crashed into a car. An older couple was driving. I was shook!! The guy got out of the car cussing. I ignored him. I tried to stay in an attitude of gratitude. I was so thankful to see he and his wife get out of the car walking. Even with the nasty attitude. I get it. However, it was an accident. A young couple stopped and prayed for me. I felt comforted. In minutes, the paramedics, fire department and later GA State Patrol pulled up. When I tell you everyone made me feel safe and protected. The fire chief stayed by my side to make sure I was ok. There’s not enough words to describe his beautiful heart. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Just two totaled out cars. I was told that at least 3 accidents happen at that intersection a week. What?!?!?! That’s crazy! I ended up staying the week at the farmhouse to get myself together. I was thinking about that evening and said, something has to change for the safety of other drivers. I will use my voice. I was taken back at how loving and caring this community was towards me. I was alone in a strange place but they never let me feel it. That day, I felt like I was a part of this community and the love they showed me was priceless. I came back to the house yesterday to hang out at the house. My sister Angela Tonette Bailey Gordon hung out with me. She left to go home. She called me shortly after leaving. She took the route of the accident scene. She called to ask me about the blinking stop light. She said was it there when you had the accident? I said no. I grabbed my phone to call bestie Zach Pettigrew because I wasn’t comfortable driving back to that area. I called him and said, stay on the phone with me. I’m going back to the scene. Tears started flowing as I saw the safety measures that were put in place. If you know where Sandy Cross Hardware Store is…..It’s that intersection. I’m so grateful that no one had to lose their life in order for a change to be made. I didn’t get a chance to use my voice but I’m grateful Carlton (Oglethorpe County) did the right thing. I’m truly at home and can’t wait to contribute to my community.
I’ll tell you all about the blessings of finding another car. (Keeping it positive) This has consumed my time. I’m still grateful. I think we found a car. Hubby will decide after this weekend. We’re on car #2
Other Good news! I was there yesterday to meet the internet tech. We got upgraded to an amazing internet service. Lord knows we couldn’t download a text message at that house.
Y’all already know, this vision is bigger than me. Be on the lookout for girls retreats, connect with nature, spiritual retreats and more. If you are a retreat host, get at me!
Always in gratitude and love,
