It's a common myth that you can't buy a home until you've got 20% saved, but in reality there are a lot of lesser known options that can help you get there. PMI or private mortgage insurance is typically required with a lower down payment on conventional loans, but can often be removed once you reach 80% equity. Be sure to talk to your loan officer to find out your specific options!
