As temperatures rise, sidewalks, asphalt, and parking lots can become dangerously hot for your dog's sensitive paw pads. Even when the air temperature feels comfortable, pavement can quickly reach temperatures that may cause painful burns. A good rule of thumb: Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your dog's paws. Try walking your pup during the early morning or evening hours, stick to grassy or shaded areas when possible, and always bring water along for your adventure. Help keep your furry friends safe, comfortable, and ready for more tail-wagging fun this summer!
