However, before you buy a home with a pool, it makes sense to understand the expenses that come with pool ownership. Chemicals can be quite pricey not to mention the time required to keep your pool pristine. When looking at remodeled homes, even when the improvements are jaw-dropping, it's important there is a paper trail in the form of permits for the upgrade. If you sign a contract and find out the work was done without a permit, it's then your responsibility! Your home inspector and appraiser should be able to identify if things are done up to code and if there is an undisclosed addition that varies from the public record card. Even if you're okay with improvements done without a permit, it might come up to haunt you if you try to sell in the future. In some cases, you could even be required to return the home to its original state. 🏠😱
