We came across this post from the Hopewell Police Department and thought it was worth sharing with our community.

If you're out there searching for a rental, just keep this simple rule of thumb in mind — any good landlord, property manager, or real estate professional should always give you the chance to see a property before any money changes hands. That means no application fees, no deposits, nothing — until you've had a chance to actually walk through (or at least do a verified virtual tour) and decide it's the right fit for you.

So if you ever come across a listing that's pressuring you to pay before you can even see the place — trust your gut. It's okay to slow down, ask questions, and look into it further before committing to anything.
