The Multiple Listing Service, the MLS, is the shared system that lets every agent see every available home in one place. It's the reason a buyer sees the full market, not just the homes one company decided to show. It's the reason the record of what homes actually sold for lives in one place instead of scattered across private networks.
Lately, some large firms have been building their own walled-off networks and "exclusive" pre-listing programs that route around the MLS. The pitch is "more choice for sellers." Sometimes that's legitimate. But when listings get split into dozens of private silos, buyers stop seeing the whole market, and the firms big enough to run those networks start deciding who sees what.
Here's the part nobody says out loud: the seller in one deal is usually the buyer in the next one. A system that quietly works against buyers today produces sellers who can't trust the market tomorrow. Same person. Both sides of the table.
My job is to show you the trade-offs of every path honestly, and to make sure you see the complete picture every time. When someone pitches you a path, ask which one serves you, not which one the company is built to profit from. Follow the money. It tells you what you need to know.
