Your international deadline needs more breathing room than you think.

Waiting to start your apostille request can leave little time for document corrections, processing, and shipping. Here’s what affects the timeline:

• The office involved. State-issued documents and federal documents, such as FBI background checks, follow different processing routes.

• Translation requirements. If your receiving organization requires a certified translation, allow time for that step too.

• Holidays and closures. Office closures mean fewer processing days, so your timeline needs to account for them.

Before making plans around a completion date, confirm what documents are required, where they need to go, and when they must arrive.

Have a fall or winter deadline? Contact The Prosper Notary & Apostille with your document type, destination country, and due date. We’ll help you understand the process and a realistic timeline.

One names your person. The other records your wishes.

A Medical Power of Attorney and a Directive to Physicians serve different purposes. Here’s the difference:

Medical Power of Attorney: Names someone you trust to make healthcare decisions when you’re unable to make them yourself.

Directive to Physicians, also called a living will: Records your preferences about life-sustaining treatment if you have a terminal or irreversible condition and cannot communicate your wishes.

Together, they help your loved ones and healthcare team understand who should speak for you and what matters to you.

In Texas, these documents can generally be signed with acknowledgment before a notary or with two qualified adult witnesses.

Once completed, share copies with your healthcare agent and doctor. Your wishes should be accessible when they’re needed.

Your flight is booked. But is your paperwork ready to travel?

A U.S. birth certificate, diploma, background check, or business document may need additional certification before an overseas school, employer, or government office will accept it.

The right process depends on where the document is going. You may need an apostille, authentication and embassy legalization, or a translation that meets the receiving office’s requirements.

Before submitting anything, confirm the document format and certification requirements with the organization requesting it. That check can help you avoid unnecessary delays.

The Prosper Notary & Apostille helps with apostille, legalization, and certified translation services.

Your flight is booked. But is your paperwork ready for the trip?

Whether you’re escaping winter or spending a few months overseas with family, add a document check to your packing list.

Before you leave, consider who can handle financial matters back home, review your healthcare documents, and confirm the requirements for any U.S. documents you’ll use abroad. Ask the receiving institution what authentication and translation it requires before starting the process.

Taking care of this early gives you time to address missing paperwork before your departure date. Nobody wants document delays joining the vacation.

Swipe through the checklist and save it for your travel planning.

The Prosper Notary & Apostille can help with notarization, apostille coordination, and certified translation.

Call or text (972) 433-7966 or visit www.theprospernotary.com to discuss your documents before you fly.

“I’ll take care of it later” leaves some big questions unanswered.

Who will inherit your property? Who can manage your finances if you cannot? Who will speak for you about medical care?

In Texas, without a valid will, state law determines who inherits property that does not pass through other arrangements, such as beneficiary designations. Without a medical power of attorney, the law determines who may make certain healthcare decisions for you.

These documents serve different purposes. A will addresses what happens after death. Powers of attorney address decisions during your lifetime.

Start by reviewing what you have, what needs updating, and where your documents are kept. An estate planning attorney can help you choose the documents that fit your situation.

Swipe to learn, save this reminder, and send it to someone whose paperwork is still on the “later” list.

When your documents are prepared and you need notarization, The Prosper Notary & Apostille can help.

A will and a trust serve different purposes. Here’s what to know before preparing your estate plan.

A will outlines who inherits your property after your death and lets you name a preferred guardian for minor children. Assets distributed through a will generally go through probate.

A living trust manages assets transferred into it during your lifetime and after death. It can provide for asset management if you become incapacitated and help those assets pass to beneficiaries without probate.

Some families use both, with a “pour-over” will covering assets left outside the trust.

Proper signing matters. In Texas, a notary commonly notarizes a will’s self-proving affidavit. Notarization alone does not replace required witnesses.

An estate planning attorney can help you choose the right documents. Once they’re prepared, The Prosper Notary & Apostille can assist with required notarizations, with mobile service across North Texas.
