📣 Agents, let your buyers know: the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate has dropped to 5.98% for the week ending Feb. 26, down from 6.01% last week and 6.76% a year ago, according to Freddie Mac.

"For the first time in three and a half years, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dropped into the 5% range, falling even lower than last week's milestone," said Sam Khater, Freddie Mac's chief economist. “This rate, combined with the improving availability of homes for sale, is meaningful and will drive more potential buyers into the market for spring homebuying season."

Great News!

Price drops and a 3.5-year low in mortgage rates are good news for buyers. The 30-year fixed rate fell to 6.01%, down from 6.85% a year ago, boosting purchasing power by about 9% ($36K for a median home) if rates hold through spring.
