🌴 Almost nobody realizes that on a quiet road in Estero, Florida, sits a village built by people who believed the entire universe was inside the Earth.
They were the Koreshans, followers of a man named Cyrus Teed who arrived in the 1890s with an astonishing claim. We do not live on the surface of a globe, he taught. We live on the inside of a hollow sphere, with the sun burning at its center. Hundreds of believers left their old lives behind and came to the Florida wilderness to build a perfect city called the New Jerusalem. 😮
They cleared the palmetto, planted royal palms and bamboo, and raised bright wooden halls with their own hands. They had electricity and a printing press and an orchestra long before their neighbors did. Walk the grounds today and those same buildings still stand beneath the trees the settlers planted, silent and sunlit, waiting.
