Happy Independence Day, Puyallup! 🇺🇸
Every Fourth of July, I’m reminded that the freedoms we enjoy today didn’t happen by accident. They were earned through the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of generations of Americans who believed this country was worth defending.
I’m incredibly grateful to live in a community that still believes in serving others, loving our neighbors, and giving back. Whether it’s volunteering at a local event, supporting a small business, coaching a youth team, serving in uniform, or simply lending a hand to someone in need, that’s what makes Puyallup such a special place to call home.
As many of you know, honoring our country is something that’s deeply important to me. That’s why I’ve been proud to help lead the effort to build Puyallup’s America 250 Memorial Flag Project! A permanent tribute to our nation’s 250th birthday and to the men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could live in freedom. I can’t wait for the day our community gathers beneath that American flag and reflects on the incredible blessings we share as Americans. (Hopefully before the end of the month, manufacture willing!)
As we have celebrated this 250th with family, friends, barbecues, and fireworks, let’s also take a moment to remember those who came before us. Freedom has never been free, and it is our responsibility to preserve it for the next generation.
Our community becomes a better place when we plant seeds for future generations that we will never enjoy.
No matter where you come from or what your story is, we are blessed to live in the greatest nation on Earth. I believe our best days are still ahead when we choose to serve our communities, treat one another with respect, and work together for a brighter future.
