Yesterday marked a major milestone for LKCO’s Fieldhouse+ project with the celebration of the topping-off ceremony. Led by Superintendent Chuck Calcagno, the event brought together project partners, community members, local leaders, and dignitaries — including Mayor Michelle Wu, Congressman Stephen Lynch and Bill Richards— to commemorate the placement of the structure’s final steel beam.

🚨 PROGRESS UPDATE 🚨

The UConn School of Nursing is getting closer to being weatherproof with exterior framing continuing across all elevations, and sheathing progressing on multiple levels. Interior trades are advancing throughout the building, including spray fireproofing, framing, drywall, MEP rough-ins, and more. Both Stair 1 and Stair 2 installations are complete, and in use, with standpipe installation ongoing.

At the roof, the galvanized screen wall and mechanical dunnage are installed, approximately 320 yards of concrete are being placed on the roof deck, marking a major milestone for this project.

Rose Conti, Vice President of Interiors, participated as a panelist at Bisnow’s Boston Office & Workplace Conference. The event brought together industry professionals for networking and insightful discussions focused on the evolving demands, trends, and priorities shaping Boston’s office market.

The panel, led by Colleen Wallace, explored how companies are navigating the return to full-time, in-office work in the post-Covid era. Rose shared that much of her current work involves spec suites, as organizations begin testing and adapting to employees’ return to in-person work environments. The discussion also highlighted the growing emphasis on workplace amenities, with companies prioritizing features that support employee productivity, well-being, and mental health.

Last week, we were honored to join the New Bedford for the Open Doors: Laying the Foundation event — a meaningful milestone marking the filling and closing of the 2026 time capsule that will be embedded within the foundation of the Museum’s new Welcome & Exhibition Center.

Lee Kennedy is proud to be building this transformational addition, designed by Machado Silvetti. The new 20,000-square-foot Welcome & Exhibition Center will feature a state-of-the-art gallery that will expand opportunities for storytelling, education, and community engagement for generations to come.

We’re grateful to be part of a project that honors New Bedford’s rich maritime heritage while helping shape the next chapter of this iconic institution.

As LKCO continues to embrace the “All In Together” commitment during Construction Safety Week, our project teams are holding stand-downs across all job sites throughout the week.

We are honored to welcome Rena Harrington—a nationally recognized safety advocate whose work is rooted in personal tragedy—to several of our job sites. Rena’s son, Justin Harrington, was a 21-year-old construction worker who lost his life in a preventable job site accident. In the aftermath of that loss, Rena made the courageous decision to turn her grief into purpose, dedicating her life to improving safety awareness across the construction industry. Through her advocacy, she emphasizes the importance of creating a culture where safety is not just a priority, but a shared commitment, ensuring every worker makes it home safely each and every day.

Construction Safety Week serves as a powerful reminder that behind every safety policy is a person, a family, and a life that matters.

The construction industry is coming together under the theme “All In Together” for this year’s Construction Safety Week, emphasizing three essential principles: recognize, respond, and respect.

As we kick off Construction Safety Week, Lee Kennedy Company reaffirms that being “All In Together” is more than a theme—it’s a year-round commitment. Guided by our mantra, “We will make safety a part of everything we do,” we take pride in working as one team to uphold the highest standards of safety on every project.
