I saw a post the other day on Instagram as I was waiting for my vanilla latte with two pup cups from Packhouse.

A family shared a photo in front of their new house, popping champagne as their kids ran around the yard. And someone commented, “congrats, you’re so lucky!”

That comment stuck with me.

Because I know that family. And it wasn’t luck.

It was months of conversations. Early morning showings. Late night number crunching. Honest strategy talks about timing, equity, and what made sense for their long term goals. It was taking a chance on themselves and saying goodbye to their low mortgage rate so they could say hello to a house down the road from her sister. It was ANYTHING but luck.

This time of year we talk a lot about luck. Four leaf clovers. Lucky breaks. Good timing.

But real estate has never rewarded luck. It rewards people who build a plan and execute it, overcoming obstacles along the way.

The families who look “lucky” this spring are usually the ones who started preparing last fall. The sellers who feel “lucky” with multiple offers are the ones who priced strategically and positioned their home correctly. The buyers who “found the perfect house” are the ones who knew their numbers and moved decisively.

Luck is random. Winning in real estate is intentional.
