Music is a big part of our community! We have a Bluegrass band that comes in, Irish dancers came and performed just to name a few. To see our residents smiles, clapping, dancing and toe tapping is so much fun!

We had an outing a couple weeks ago at a miniature golf range! Two of our residents got a hole in one! It was so great to enjoy the beautiful weather and find such a cool place to go. This is definitely on our calendar to go back!

We went to the Raleigh Durham Radio Control Clubs fly on Saturday. The residents loved seeing all the different planes and seeing them fly. This was a resident request. We even saw a 9 year old fly his plane and a jet radio controlled plane. One member even had a glider he completes with and he did all kind of tricks with and flying patterns

We have three 100 year old vets and many other vets who have served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. We have built 6 houses and decorated them with royal icing and food coloring to portray how we think of the different branches in a gingerbread house. The idea came from a resident who was reading about the USA and our upcoming 250th anniversary. We have had residents coming up with ideas for each house and how it should look. Several have helped paint and put on the icing and symbols. We hope you can name each of the branches and guess which house goes with each branch. We took the picture of our finished project today and we plan on having it a little more dressed up for our event next week.

Tuesday we decorated the tree in the Atrium! We started after lunch and everything was finished by 4:00! The residents helped as did some of the staff. We even had some family members help. Shelia just had to put out the ornaments and separate them. It was made even more pleasant by Nora playing music while we decorated. The Traveling Chef, Penny, even came out and offered eggnog to everyone around the tree. It truly is a resident tree.

We had a Gratitude Day the other day. This consisted of 8 people making cookies in grandma's kitchen, putting them on trays and delivering them to our local fire department, EMS location and Trader Joes (where we get leftover flowers each week). Residents got on the bus and so enjoyed sharing the treats and showing our appreciation!

We had a pie tasting marketing event last week with a great variety of desserts. Our residents enjoy music, so Sheila is always trying to find something different and unique. She was able to have a dulcimer player come in so we could have some entertainment while we enjoyed the sweets.
