We’re excited to share the successful closing of Overland Place: a new 48-unit affordable housing community serving families in Greensboro, NC. This thoughtfully planned development will feature a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, along with amenities such as a fitness room, multipurpose/computer center, playground, gazebo, picnic and grilling area, and energy-efficient features.

Why was it important for you to join the CAHEC Board, and what does serving on the Board mean to you? "I've known Dana Boole and CAHEC for 25 years and have long admired him and the organization he has created. When he asked me to join the board, it was an easy decision to say yes. CAHEC exemplifies the gold standard in the affordable housing industry, with a professional team who all strive to be their very best each day in order to deliver much-needed affordable housing and community facilities to underserved families and individuals in our communities. It is an honor and a privilege to be affiliated with CAHEC."

What’s one thing you wish more people knew about affordable housing or the communities CAHEC serves? "I wish more people knew that affordable housing is not a "giveaway" to those who reside in these communities. Most of the residents work very hard to make ends meet; others live with disabilities that make it impossible to work. Providing shelter that is affordable, safe, and dignified to people with lower incomes is a difficult task with many hurdles, but affordable housing is an essential component to keeping our economy and communities strong."

We’re thrilled to announce the closing of Joy Lofts, a brand-new affordable rental community bringing opportunity to low-income families in Parkersburg, WV!

As Mag Cabanas, Project Manager - Syndication at CAHEC, shares: “Joy Lofts Apartments will bring 25 new, high-quality affordable homes to families in Parkersburg, helping expand access to safe, stable housing in the community. With spacious three- and four-bedroom apartments, the approximately $8.7 million development will provide rents well below comparable market rates while creating much-needed housing opportunities for income-qualified families. Joy Lofts represents an important investment in Parkersburg’s future and in the families who call the community home.”
