First serving tray made for a client. I was saving this piece of walnut for over two years for the right project and I think this was the right one. This was after the first coat of finish, I still had to sand and reapply three more times.

Zillow stopped buying homes last week and now they need to get rid of their inventory. They have 111 homes for sale right now in the Triangle so it could be a a very short window to get a "deal" on a home in this market.

All 111 homes for sale at the link below sorted by longest days on market. Big price reductions on some of them. The first one is $75k since it was listed.

I haven't done wood turning in months. A few clients have had a baby recently so I thought it would be a good time for rattles. They are super fun to make. The square blanks are how a rattle starts off as and I turn them on my lathe. Sanded to 600 and finished with mineral oil and beeswax.

I guess I should post more often of the items I make for my clients. I started making knives for people that have given me a referral. I used to do gift cards but always prefer something handmade that will be used for many years. I've finished about a dozen so far and starting to get the hang of it, and first impressions so far have been very positive. There are about 10-12 different knife styles which works out great for people who send me multiple. Referrals are the best compliment I can receive and extremely grateful for everyone who sends them over to me 😀

People often ask me how the market is, and for the last 4-5 years I have said it's a strong sellers market. Lately i've said inventory is critically low. Not just for this time of year but we are way below normal right now. I'm writing an offer on a home for my client and the seller agent said they have 27 offers on the table right now. That's how low our inventory is.....

My clients closed on their new home in Briar Chapel. It was a spec home and had the most interesting countertops I have ever seen. Photos don't do them justice. I made a contrasting cutting board with inlays and it turned out awesome but proved to be very challenging. Cutting a finished board into pieces to glue in the inlay was a little bit scary but worth it. I hope they enjoy the board as much as I did making it. When my client met me at his new home for the final walkthrough he was surprised by the cutting board. He was on Williams Sonoma the night before looking at boards for $180+ and he said they didn't look as nice or nearly as big. This was my widest board at 15" and almost 24" long. Solid walnut end grain. I tell everyone to not be afraid to use these boards because I will refinish them at any point in the future so they continue looking their best.
