π₯ As we step into February, it's important to recognize it's National Burn Awareness Month. A startling statistic from the American Burn Association (2016) reveals that someone in the U.S. suffers a burn injury requiring treatment every 60 seconds. While not all burns are due to fires, many are preventable. Here are four practical tips for keeping your family safe:
1) Before a child's bath, always test the water temperature to ensure it's comfortably warm, not hot.
2) Avoid carrying hot liquids like coffee or tea when also holding a child or pet.
3) Maintain a safe zone of at least three feet from fireplaces, stoves, or any area where hot food or beverages are prepared, especially for children.
4) Ensure travel mugs and containers are securely sealed to prevent spills of hot contents.
On a related note, as a dedicated real estate professional, I'm excited to contribute to the safety and well-being of our community heroes through the Homes for Heroes program. This initiative is close to my heart, serving Veterans, first responders, healthcare professionals, educators, and fire and police personnel in the Triangle area of North Carolina.
If you're considering buying, selling, or refinancing, Homes for Heroes offers exceptional benefits, including exclusive discounts and rebates, as a token of appreciation for your service.
