Week 3 of The Mortgage Professor’s Relationship & Visibility Series.

This week was about content, familiarity, and showing up in a way people can actually recognize and remember.

Robert and Rusty led a practical working session with local professionals around one simple idea:

People need to know you, trust you, and remember you before they are ready to refer you.

Thanks to everyone who showed up, asked questions, and did the work.

Thinking about buying a home later this year?

You do not need to have everything figured out before you ask questions.

Most people have more questions than answers at the beginning. That is completely normal.

Sometimes the first mortgage conversation is just education:
What can I afford?
How much should I save?
What should I work on first?

If you’ve got questions, ask. I’m always happy to talk through it. No application required.

Business still grows through real relationships.

That’s one of the reasons I’m part of 212 Network – RDU Heatwave here in Raleigh.

It’s a group of local professionals who believe in showing up, helping each other grow, and connecting good people with good people.

If you’re a business owner or professional looking for a referral group that feels more relationship-based than transactional, come visit us sometime.

We currently meet on Thursdays from 4–5 PM at Clouds Brewing Taproom.

A few recent moments from around Raleigh.

Community events, local conversations, referral partners, and a whole lot of showing up.

That’s a big part of this business for me.

Mortgages are personal decisions, and trust still matters. I’m grateful for the people, businesses, and organizations that make this community feel connected.

If you’ve got questions about buying, refinancing, or getting prepared, I’m always happy to talk it through.

Not every loan officer works from the same standard, and not every pre-approval gives you the full picture. My job is to help you understand where you stand, what your numbers really mean, and what questions you should be asking before you make a decision.

When I work with a buyer, I want them to feel clear on:

How lenders look at their finances
What their pre-approval actually means
What costs to expect before closing
What options may be worth comparing
What makes sense for their situation

I’ll always encourage people to ask questions and shop around. A good decision starts with good information.

If buying, refinancing, or even just understanding your options has been on your mind, I’m happy to talk through it.

First-time buyers, here’s one thing that gets overlooked:

Insurance should not be the last call.

The cost of homeowners insurance can be affected by flood zones, past claims on the home, and the type of coverage you need.

That’s why I tell buyers to build their homebuying team early.

Your Realtor, lender, insurance agent, and other professionals should all help you understand the full picture before you’re too far along.

Katie Griffin - Local Insurance Broker, with Goosehead Insurance, is one of the people I trust to explain this clearly.

If you’ve got questions, ask. Happy to explain it.

Week 2 starts today.

Last week, we talked relationships. This morning, we’re talking visibility and online trust.

Because your first impression happens before the first conversation.

Week 2 starts today.

Last week was a great start with this group of local professionals.

This morning, we’re talking about visibility, online trust, and what people see before they call, refer, or connect with you.

Glad to be part of these conversations.

First-time buyers, this is one of the best places to start:

Talk to someone you trust.

Not a random website.
Not an online form that sends your information everywhere.
A real person who can connect you with other trusted local professionals.

Michelle Myers and I talked about why the Realtor/lender relationship matters so much, especially when you are buying your first home.

You should not have to figure all of this out alone.

If you have questions, ask. We are both happy to help.

Buying a home can feel overwhelming.

That’s why I try to make the process clear, calm, and easy to understand.

I’m grateful for these kind words from recent clients. The best part of my job is helping people feel informed before they make big decisions.

If you’re thinking about buying or refinancing and you have questions, I’m happy to talk through it.
