“Any man’s son may become the equal of any other man’s son.”
This is what French and British aristocrats would have remarked when they visited 19th century America. On his visit, Frances Trollope noted how the industriousness of the American people reverbarated throughout society.
“Capitalism in America” is a masterpiece that expounds on how our capitalistic economy was conceived, structured, and how it has evolved ever since. Alan Greenspan, one of the most consequential chairmen of the Federal Reserve of this century, wrote the book.
My humble opinion is that it's impossible for one to actualize today’s version of the American Dream without understanding how that dream has evolved throughout history. Especially for those who were once excluded, thinking in the context of history is a superpower.
