🏡 South Dakota property taxes are changing🎉 Home Owner Occupied 🎉 — and if you own a home or plan to buy one, this is worth paying attention to.

There are new property-tax relief measures rolling out across South Dakota, including options that allow counties to use additional sales-tax revenue to help reduce property taxes on owner-occupied homes.

Here in the Black Hills, counties are handling it differently — with Pennington, Meade, Custer, Lawrence and Fall River County each making their own decisions on how or whether to participate.

👉 The important part?

Your county, property value and whether the home is owner-occupied could make a significant difference in what you actually pay.

And beginning with upcoming tax years, South Dakota homeowners may also see additional statewide property-tax relief tied to owner-occupied properties.

Taxes, assessments, exemptions and owner-occupied status matter.
