As of July 2024, New Mexico changed the insulation requirements for climate Zones 5 and above. Red River and Angel Fire reside in a climate zone 7, Ruidoso resides in a climate zone 5.. The new requirements for walls are R20 +R5 continuous insulation on the outside of the studs.
We accomplish this by adding a SIP Panel (Structural Insulated Panel) between the framing and the siding then using spray foam on the interior once the plumbing and electrical are complete.
This combination ensures a well insulated home that is up to code.
