Every single day I feel so blessed to be a part of this business. The “sink or swim” nature of the business changed my perspective on life completely. I am constantly reflecting on how it has challenged me, stretched me, exposed my weaknesses, taught me so many lessons.
Out of those lessons, the one I’ve been thinking about most lately is the value of true authenticity. For so long, I thought that I was supposed to be everything to everybody. Like a chameleon man, shifting my personality and style of business in order to fit the mold that was created for me by others (that was never really there).
I constantly analyzed to tried to figure out how things were, and how I was “supposed to be” in all aspects. Gotta be by the book to get clients right? No dude, relax.
What I found was that the more authentic I was, the better I could serve, connect, build trust, and build relationships with my clients.
Nowadays, we can laugh, have a good time, make jokes, hangout and celebrate wins together with the people that I serve, while also working hard and obtaining the results that they hired me for.
If I could go back in time, I’d tell myself this. Get out of your head and don’t put yourself in a box. Don’t listen to all those “gurus” and don’t try to be everything to everybody. If you’re weird, be weird and own it, you’ll find your weird tribe, I promise.
