Twenty-five years ago, I had the privilege of selling Walter his home at 835 Kimbark in Devore Heights. Recently, he called on me again—this time to help him sell the property and find the right home for the next chapter of his life.

This was much more than selling one home and buying another. Walter was downsizing from a 2.6-acre ranch with a barn and corral to approximately 1,600 square feet in a senior community. After 25 years, there was a great deal of organizing, decluttering and adjusting to do along the way, and I felt honored to be there to help him through that transition.

Walter had been concentrating his search on senior manufactured-home communities, but he had some very important requirements: an attached two-car garage, a covered patio, and a grassy backyard for his dog, Midnight. 🐾 Those features aren’t always easy to find together in a senior manufactured-home community, but we found them in Calimesa.

And now both chapters have successfully closed: 835 Kimbark sold for $837,000, and Walter has moved into his new home.

For me, this is what 39 years in real estate is really about. Not simply houses and escrows, but relationships that last, trust that carries through the years, and helping people navigate life’s changes.

I have had bad eye sight since 5 years old. Vision 20/820 and today am SO HAPPY to have my right eye lens replaced. Next month the left eye lens replacement is scheduled. Just with the one eye, I can see without glasses. I can actually read small print on road signs😃 No driving at night yet til my left eye lens is replaced. I had been complaining to my eye doc that my vision was getting worse and I thought I needed cataract surgery, but was told I didn’t need it yet and instead would my eyeglass prescription increased. The last prescription increase made no difference and I finally got a referral to have this operation. Incredible! It was a 20 min procedure. Thanks to Dr. Steven Rimmer, Redlands. Amazing! His office was excellent!

Below is the message posted by the California Association of Realtors🏡👏💪❤️

REALTORS® Deliver Major Victory: AB 736
Stopped
Because thousands of California REALTORS® took action and made their voices heard,
AB 736, a bill that would have incentivized cities to raise transfer taxes on property,
particularly higher-value homes, will not move forward.
When the threat emerged, REALTORS® across California responded immediately. In
just over 24 hours, more than 12,000 calls were made by REALTORS® to members of
the Legislature, urging them to oppose the bill. That overwhelming response sent a
clear message: increasing taxes on homeownership is not the answer.
In a separate but related development on tax policy, C.A.R. supported a broader
agreement under which the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association agreed to withdraw
its qualified Local Taxpayer Protection Act (LTPA) initiative in exchange for placing a
constitutional amendment before the voters that would preserve the requirement that
local special tax increases receive two-thirds voter approval. As part of the same
agreement, ACA 13, a measure C.A.R. opposed and was prepared to fight at the ballot,
will be removed from the November 2026 ballot. C.A.R. supported this agreement and
the constitutional amendment and looks forward to its consideration by voters. While
the amendment would apply going forward rather than to taxes already in place, it
would protect taxpayers by returning the two-thirds threshold to all ballot measures
for all local special tax measures.
This outcome is a powerful reminder that REALTOR® advocacy works. When
REALTORS® engage, lawmakers listen. Your calls, emails, and outreach helped stop a
proposal that would have made buying and selling a home more expensive for
California families.
C.A.R. will continue to monitor AB 736 to ensure it remains inactive.

Hi everyone! This message is important. Tomorrow in Sacramento this bill being proposed (AB 736) to raise the TAX for all homeowners who sell a property. It targets SINGLE FAMILY HOMES, not commercial or investment properties. Currently all property owners who sell property pay a county transfer tax and it's a fixed percentage of the sale. Today If you sell a property for $650,000, the tax will be $715.00. This bill, if passed, has the potential to raise transfer taxes up to 3%.
