How cool is this? I was at Rolling Hills Promenade two weeks ago & it was sad and depressing. I took video to share with my family how sad a once vibrant mall once was. So glad to hear this great news. 🏒 ⛸

The rink, undergoing an approximately $200,000 remodel, will be rebranded the LA Kings Ice at Promenade on the Peninsula and is expected to have its grand opening on Sept. 7.

I’m ready for a more balanced market. This market is nuts, insane, & crazy. If you’re a seller, make sure you have your up-leg. Yes, you will score top dollar. 💰 However, being a buyer in this market is not an easy task nor fun. 😬

Really sad to see the rink close after all these years. I’ve skated at the PV rink since a young child. Our grandma would take my cousins & us skating every Christmas break. 🎄 Once I had children, it was so nostalgic to see my boys skate at the same rink I skated at as a child. Really sad. 😔 Thanks a lot COVID.

Our company, Ice-America, has been managing the Promenade Ice Chalet for nearly five years. During that time, we've gratefully watched over the ice rink like a family and endeavored to fulfill its potential as a viable business. It was exciting to see so many new families introduced to ice skating over that period of time—which saw attendance double. Thank for your patronage and support!⁣

Many of our team members have been a part of the ice rink's history since the early years as an Ice Capades Chalet, and again during its reincarnation about 20 years ago. We have greatly enjoyed being a part of the community and sharing the joy of ice skating with so many wonderful families and skating enthusiasts.⁣

It is with a sad heart that we share the news: Promenade Ice Chalet will close at the end of this month, with the last day of full operation being September, 27, 2020. The decision was made by the facility owners and the current business climate with greatly reduced attendance levels and higher costs is likely a strong factor. Running an ice rink profitably is a huge challenge in the best of times and simply not possible during a pandemic.⁣
⁣
While the future is uncertain, I can say that our Ice-America team will be looking for opportunities to reopen at a later date or bring another ice rink to the area in the coming months and years. We hope to welcome you again when the time is right or to see you in the meantime at one of our holiday ice rinks.⁣

For those of our patrons currently enrolled in any of our programs, please know that the departments overseeing the programs your skater is enrolled in will be in touch with you in the coming days to address how to move forward.⁣

Where on earth will I find reasonable priced snow clothes for my boys now? So sad to see it go. 😔 I have sweet memories of shopping at Sears with my parents as a young child. We’d always stop by their in-store candy counter to get a bag of their malt balls before leaving. 🍭 🍫 😋
