Dear Editor,

An active lifestyle is important, especially as you get older. But to keep up with the activities and sports that I love, including hitting the mountains for ski season, I need to be sure that my health is covered by a solid health care coverage plan. That way I can prioritize preventative care and know that any surprise medical issues will be covered.

Like over 200,000 Nevadans, I signed up for a great health plan that is now being threatened by some in Congress: Medicare Advantage plans.

My Medicare Advantage plan has been truly a life saver. Just a month ago, I relied on my health care coverage more than ever, as I had open heart surgery to fix an
aneurism on my descending aorta.

I am happy to report that the surgery went well, and my recovery is going even better, thanks to the financial and health support of my Medicare Advantage plan.

Not only were my medical bills kept low, thanks to the cap on out-of-pocket costs, but I have also been connected with care coordination resources and a series of treatment plans that will have me back to my active lifestyle by April.

If it weren’t for the coverage I receive through Medicare Advantage, I might have had to wait all the way till next ski season to get back on the slopes.

I urge our Congressional Members to support Medicare Advantage plans. These plans keep Seniors healthier and save money in the long run.
