We're excited to announce that the space formerly occupied by LuLou's in Midtown Reno will soon be a great new restaurant. Rene Preciado and Sergio Romero are expanding their partnership with this new venture. The duo, who individually own Mexcal and La Condesa in Reno respectively, teamed up to open Toro Bravo and Karajillo Coffee Co. in Reno. And now, they are bringing a chef-driven, elevated dining restaurant to the former LuLou’s space, next door to Stremmel Gallery, featuring a diverse menu of global cuisine. The team plans to open the new restaurant, called Sofia, later this year. Cheers to this awesome addition to our food community! Mexcal Reno La Condesa Eatery Toro Bravo Karajillo & Co.

The National Association of Realtors is urging Congress to double the capital gains tax exclusion for home sellers, raising the limit from $250,000 to $500,000 for single filers and from $500,000 to $1 million for married couples.

The current limits, unchanged since 1997, mean nearly 13 million homeowners would face a tax penalty if they sold today, effectively locking them in place and reducing available housing supply. NAR president Kevin Brown testified before the Senate Banking Committee that raising the limits would free up housing inventory without requiring new construction.
