So, I had to run into work yesterday to take care of an emergency, and this young bald eagle was walking down the lane, seemingly distraught. I circled around and let the neighbors know so they could call someone. While I was gone, he apparently disappeared, either hiding somewhere or flying away. I'm hoping it was the latter. I'm thinking he was overheated.

It's been a little over a year since I visited Madame Sherri's castle in Chesterfield, NH. It's really on it's way to becoming a pile of rubble; this incredible staircase is teetering on total collapse.

For those of you wondering, Madame Sherri was a Vaudevillian costume designer who built this chateau style "castle" in 1930 and hosted high society parties here until the '60s. Now it's a landmark destination with trailheads and an artificial pond, which used to be the swimming pool. It's a beautiful, eerie place midway up a narrow mountain road that runs along a gorgeous creek. If you're ever in Brattleboro, VT or Keene, NH, this place is only minutes away.
