The Anatomy of Real Estate.
A listing agent, buyers agent, mortgage broker, and Home Inspector were all standing in a bar having a drink.
The listing agent said if the real estate industry was a body I would be the heart. My listings are at the heart of every transaction.
The buyers agent said well if you’re the heart, then I am the soul because we go together. Without my Buyers there would be no transaction.
The mortgage broker said well if you two are the heart and soul then I am the life’s blood. Without my blood, aka mortgage funding, the body would not live.
Just then a Seller and Buyer who overheard the conversation joined in. The seller said, “Well, we are part of the body too and I am the arm. The Buyer said, “I am part of the body and I guess I’m the leg.” And in unison the buyer and seller said, Because it cost us an “arm and a leg” to buy and sell a house.
Everyone looked at the home inspector. He said, Honestly I don’t know what body part I would be.
The buyer said, “You are the eyes and emotional distress because you looked around the house, found deficiencies and it scared me to death”
The buyers agent said, “you are the stomach who helps us digest the 60 page report and quite often it’s upsetting.”
The listing agent said, “you are the intestines and colon who turned my deal into crap”
The mortgage broker said, “you are a hemorrhoid who is a pain in the Butt..”
The Seller said, “No you are the A**s who dumps all the crap on us at the 11th hour”
The home inspector looked around said, “well if that’s how you all feel, then I guess I would say I am the brain.”
“THE BRAIN????” they all retorted.
“Yes, because I am the only one thinking that if you had your home inspected before it hit the market then you wouldn’t feel like a crappy, deal killing report got dumped on you at the last minute”

Whoda thunk that today would have ever arrived. On May 7, 1995 I inspected a small, yellow rambler in the Houghton neighborhood of Kirkland. Several thousand inspections in the 25 years since that first one. Wow. Lots of fun experiences, a few not so much. I learned a lot. Still am. Met some great people. Gained some friends. Thank you to all of you who have trusted me to contribute to you, or your clients', purchase decision.

Take some scattered clues, mix together, throw in 22 years experience inspecting thousands of homes, and what do you get? A happy client who is elated that she dodged a repair bill that ran over $14000.00. Now, tell me again why you would want to hire the inexperienced guy who charges less? Pretty good result for a fee of about $450 on a 2000 sf home, right?
