Dear Mom,
Thinking of you today on the anniversary of your passing. It’s hard to believe how much time has passed, but I still feel your influence every single day.
I’m writing this because I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for being my mom. I count myself so lucky because I truly had one of the best parents a person could ever have. Your support and your heart made me who I am.
I also want to thank you and Dad for the way you raised me. You both taught me what it means to be accountable in this world, and man, what a world we are experiencing right now. You showed me that being a person of integrity means taking responsibility for my life and my choices. You and Dad never expected me to be perfect, but you did expect me to be honest. You taught me that when I stumble, I don't look for someone else to blame—I look at what I can do to make it right. That lesson gave me so much strength. It took away the fear of failing because I knew that as long as I stayed accountable, I could always find a way back. That lesson is one of the greatest gifts you ever gave me, and I carry it with me in everything I do.
Mom, Dad, you would be very proud of your daughter and your grandson. All three of us have held your legacy together. Retaining the family home and having a place that still carries a lot of memories. I literally pulled these pictures off the wall and took a picture to share with everyone, who my parents are.
One last thought to share with you Mom. I watched you fight to live. I did everything I could to keep you here with us. EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! You fought and fought. You are one tough Lady, and when you said, “I HAD ENOUGH”, YOU WAS ALSO TELLING ME GOODBYE. I was glad I was there with you. But I know God was calling you home on that day.
I miss you today and every day, but I am so grateful for the time we had. I’m prouder than ever to be your first child and only son.
All my love to you Mom and Dad,
Efrem
