Many months ago my friend, Jefferson Fisher, I know a lot of you have heard me talk about him, announced his brand-spanking new, fresh, hot off the presses, first book. I jumped on it during a live webinar with Jefferson himself. I thanked him in the chat and told him “She doesn’t know it yet but my wife will thank you as well”. He got a laugh outta that. Hard to believe that was so long ago! Well, clearly had the deets, too. Today, we surprised each other with Jefferson’s first book. I had mine personalized and signed for Michelle as I usually go above and beyond for my beautiful wife. Anyways… can’t wait to get reading!

You can't afford real estate in Northern Virginia, you've been told. It's impossible to save up for a down payment, you've been told.

If you stick with me for a second, I'll show you that those people are wrong.

Affordability: I put a pin in the middle of Washington DC and put a 50 mile radius around it (VA only).

Currently 416 properties, under $400K, are coming soon or on the market in that radius.

Down Payment: I have access to programs that offer $4,000-$6,500 in down payment and closing cost assistance.

Oh, if I were in the market for instant equity in a home, this little gem would be my top pick. I mean, this list price? This neighborhood? I wouldn’t dare be the FIRST (at this particular TIME) to tell a HOME BUYER what they should or shouldn't do. That’s totally your call.

Happy Groundhog Day!

The famous 1993 Bill Murray movie is running on repeat today in my house. It should be everywhere!

Did you know that the German version of Groundhog Day is called "Und Taglich Grusst das Murmeltier"? That directly translates to "And the Marmot Greets You Every Day".

As usual, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and we are now graced with 6 more weeks of Winter. Womp womp...

Thank you, Veterans!

This Veterans Day I send a special thank you to the Veterans that shaped me, William Watts, Joan Watts, Newton Rector Watts, and Lewis Deane.

William Watts, my Pops, served in the United States Army as an Engineer. He built runways, made maps, developed technology used to this day, and kicked ass. Please excuse the pic of Pops Watts. I believe this was taken during one of the most stressful assignments in his US Army career, rebuilding a runway on an EXTREMELY remote Aleutian Island in Alaska. He wasn't in the mood for glamour shots.

Joan Watts, my Ma, served in the United States Air Force and played critical support roles during the Vietnam War.

Newton Rector Watts, my Grandfather, served in the United States Navy during World War II. He owned his own jewelry store, Watts Jewlers, in Chatham, New York where the sale of every earring went to my Dad's college fund. Unfortunately, I never truly knew him as he passed not long after I was born.

Lewis Deane, my Grandfather, served in the United States Army during World War II. He is, to this day, one of the toughest and sweetest men I have ever known. Tough because he could do anything and he could do it with one arm. Sweet because he was an incredible Pop-Pop and loved his family fiercely.

Did you know that most of the traditions for modern day Halloween came from Ireland?

1. It originated from the Celtic Festival, Samhain (pronounced Sah-wen).
2. The Jack-O'-Lantern came from a myth about a man nicknamed Stingy Jack, a drunkard 🥴 that tricked the devil 👹 and carried a lantern around the swamps and marshes he slept in.

There is a third tradition out there. I highlighted it in my Halloween email newsletter. Hmmm... what could it have to do with? 🤔🍬🍫🍭🍻🥃

When they say, "no closing ever goes smoothly", they just don't have right combination.

Selling Haley's townhouse was a breeze, after sorting through the multiple offers, of course. But what made this transaction special was that both parties got what they needed and it felt great to help that happen.

Oh! It also helped that Monk's BBQ was a neighbor and the area always smelled fantastic!

The 5-Star Google Review streak is still alive!
