We recorded this week's episode right at Reston Town Center while they were putting up tents for the arts festival — which felt pretty appropriate given everything going on around us. Hopefully, you were able to get out there for this one.
This one covers a lot of ground. We dug into the April housing data for Reston, and some of the numbers caught us off guard. The overall median price for all homes in Reston hit $695,000, which is a record high and up 8.6% from April of last year. Townhomes are really driving things — up 16% year-over-year to a $750,000 median. Single-family homes in Reston are at $1.275 million, ahead of the county as a whole. Condos are a different story, and we get into why, and it's not just seasonal softness.
We also could not let this episode go by without talking about what is shaping up to be one of the busiest Saturdays Reston and Herndon have seen in a while. Polar Heat in Herndon, the Tephra ICA Arts Festival's 35th anniversary at Reston Town Center, the first Reston Concert on the Town of the season, and Lovin' the Lakes down at Lake Audubon with free kayak and paddleboard rentals. It is a lot. Did you get out to any of these events?
And we reviewed Nan-Thai over at Worldgate, which has been there for a while but somehow flew under our radar. That one is worth your time.
Give the episode a watch or a listen and tell us what you think — especially whether the housing numbers surprised you or not. We're curious what people are seeing out there.
