Do you have icicles around your gutters? Yes, they're dangerous...in more ways than the obvious. The top of this one is between the gutter and the fascia board. uh -oh! That means water is getting behind there. Water behind the fascia board is evil. It causes rot! Here's the confession...this isn't on some house I inspected, it's my own house😟 This issue will need a fixin soon!

My dishwasher was acting up and Thanksgiving is comning! Here's a tip for fixing your dishwasher... the dishwasher control panel was acting really weird. The lights on the control panel would flash erratically. Finally, the buttons wouldn't respond at all. I thought I'd have to buy a new control panel and PAY an appliance repair guy to install it properly. Ahhhh!!! Thanksgiving is coming! After talking with a couple different parts suppliers, I realized that the control panel may just need to be reset. To do so, you have to cut off the power to the machine. Most dishwashers are hard wired to a breaker. I flipped the breaker in the electric service panel off for a minute, then flipped it back on. My control panel reset and the dishwasher is now acting like it should. All in time for a harmonious Thanksgiving at my house. Here's wishing a Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours.

Have you checked your gutters recently? Sure, it's not a top of mind thing... but there's rain a plenty coming. If nothing else, just clean out the areas right above downspouts. Clear gutters can help avoid a lot of other problems with your home. Have a great week!

This is the weekend! Go out with an umbrella & check your gutters. I promise it doesn't hurt. The best time to check them is when it's raining pretty hard. If you have leaks or spillovers, 1st - make sure they're clean. 2nd- if bent or a hole, get them repaired. Leaking gutters can cause big problems.

Tree limbs that overhang the house are a big no no when I Inspect a home. If a storm doesn't take it down, eventually gravity or a tree trimmer will.
