Today is a sad day. Many of you have followed along with my office spider, Charlie, over the past several months/weeks. He became an unexpected companion during long days at the office. I would often look up from my desk and find him quietly watching from his corner near the ceiling or perched on my desk plant.
Yesterday, I found Charlie on the windowsill. His little journey has come to an end. It may sound silly to some to be grieving a jumping spider. But when you spend enough quiet mornings and late evenings alone in an office, even the smallest creatures become part of your daily life.
I am incredibly blessed in my life to help care for orphaned wildlife through the Savannah Wildlife Rescue Center. I have bottle-fed baby raccoons, cared for fawns, and just yesterday had the privilege of feeding three baby crows. Life constantly reminds me that every creature, no matter how small, matters.
Charlie reminded me of that every day. Thank you for keeping me company, little friend. I hope wherever spiders go, there are plenty of flies, warm sunshine, and windowsills to explore.
Rest easy, Charlie. š·ļøš¤
