September 29 is World Heart Day! RHHD encourages you to take action to prioritize a healthy heart:

♥ Check your blood pressure. Check out our recent reels about the blood pressure monitoring stations that you can make use of at and .

♥ Take steps to quit smoking. Visit rhhd.gov/fft to learn more about RHHD’s Free From To***co program.

♥ Choose healthy meals and snacks. Include plenty of fruit and vegetables in your diet, and choose foods lower in sodium and saturated fat.

♥ Exercise! Adults should get at least 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week. This could be activities like a brisk walk, a run, or a bike ride!

♥ Get vaccinated. Flu, RSV, and pneumococcal vaccines have been linked to reduced risk of cardiovascular and cardiorespiratory events in older adults. Adults over 65 and people with chronic conditions are particularly susceptible to severe complications from these illnesses.

♥ Get connected with a primary care provider. Visit rhhd.gov/connect-pc to find local primary care providers.

During National Food Safety Education Month, here's a reminder to give your fruits and veggies a strain. Rinsing removes harmful bacteria like E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria, along with dirt, bugs, and pesticide residues.
