As the weather changes, there are a couple things to keep in mind as it pertains to the efficiencies of your home.

As we all know, getting your HVAC system serviced twice a year will help, as well as changing your filters regularly and adjusting the dampers on your system. One additional thing that can help with airflow in your home is adjusting the direction of your fan blades.

Ceiling fan direction may not be something you think about on a regular basis, but it can make a big difference in the comfort of your home and impact the number on your energy bill. The reason is that the clockwise and counterclockwise rotations push the air in opposite directions, which aligns with the way your airflow needs change in the summer and winter seasons. So, if you can't feel air from ceiling fan the way you want to, it may be going in the wrong direction for that time of year.

Today, a few of us got the opportunity to help out Shalom Farms in Northside Richmond. They provide fresh, affordable produce around the city.

We were harvesting peppers and hibiscus as well as cleaning up some of the beds of weeds. It was hot, dirty work, but so great to help our community.
