It is not news that home prices have dramatically risen - just look at the numbers over the past few years.

In January of 2021 the average sales price in Central Virginia was $322,047.
In January of 2022 it was $362,324.
In January of 2023 it was $373,218
In January of 2024 it was $407,941.

Keep in mind that is the entire MLS.

If you break it down to zip codes, the rise is more extreme.

In the same time frame, the number of homes that sold in January of 2021 was 1,534 and only 980 in January of 2024.

If you are looking to sell now is a wonderful time. Maybe it's time to sell a rental? Maybe your family has been holding onto real estate from an estate? Perhaps it's time to downsize and move to something more maintenance free. If it's house or land to sell, now is the time.
