🏛️ Governmental Affairs Update 🏛️
Yesterday, “Yes for RPS” held a press conference outside Richmond High School for the Arts to launch their campaign supporting the 1% school sales tax on the November ballot for City of Richmond voters. Residents, students, Mayor Danny Avula, School Board Chair Shavonda Fernandez, and RPS Superintendent Jason Kamras praised the new schools built because of the meals tax in recent years but highlighted the numerous other RPS schools still in desperate need of repairs. 🏛️ Governmental Affairs Update 🏛️

On Monday, Mayor Avula, Councilmember Breton, and other City of Richmond officials held a press conference to announce the release of the third draft of Code Refresh, the proposal to update Richmond’s 50+ year old code. Mayor Avula thanked residents for their input, which led to several major changes in this new draft, stating: “What we are proposing today is a result of listening well, making changes, and finding compromises.”
